Fronius - Shifting the Limits

The engineer Günter Fronius laid the foundation for today's company Fronius International in Austria in 1945. What began as a one-man operation is now a globally active company with almost 5,500 employees. The founder was already involved in the recharging of car batteries. In the 1990s, the founder's children set out for new shores and entered the solar energy business. Today, the photovoltaic division of the family business is one of three pillars. The company philosophy is based on sustainability, independence and healthy growth. 93 % of the production is exported to 60 countries worldwide. Other divisions of Fronius International are welding technology and electrical charging technology.

Fronius is represented in Europe, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, USA, Australia, China, Turkey, India, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and the Middle East. With its products, Fronius targets homeowners, business owners, solar installers, solar wholesalers and project planners.

So at Fronius it is also a matter of course to obtain the electricity we need from the company's own photovoltaic system. The solar modules are partly on the façade of the company building and partly on the roof that spans the car park. Probably the largest rooftop solar plant is mounted on the factory building in Sattledt. It has a module area of 7,000 m² and produces 1 MWp of electricity. This could alternatively supply 250 households.

The company's own vehicle fleet is also gradually being converted to e-cars. To enable employees and visitors to charge their cars conveniently, the branches in Austria are already equipped with 60 charging stations.

Some examples of successfully completed projects of the company

  • 1 MW solar plant on a field in Tauro, Greece
  • Rooftop solar installation for a family home in Glenelg North, Australia
  • 46 kWp solar installation for a lemon plantation in Los Nogales, Argentina
  • A solar installation distributed over several houses with different roof orientations in Malviés, France.
