Direct current

In the case of electric current, a distinction is usually made between direct current and alternating current. Direct current is characterised by the fact that it has no change in current strength and direction over time. Typical direct current sources are solar cells, accumulators and batteries as well as generators. An inverter is needed to convert direct current into alternating current.
