Network operator

Grid operators are divided into transmission grid operators and distribution grid operators. The former are responsible for the distribution of electricity via high and extra-high voltage and provide the basic infrastructure for the numerous distribution grid operators. The distribution grid operators supply electricity to end customers and often have their own low-voltage grids for this purpose. Large industrial customers with high energy requirements are sometimes also directly connected to the transmission grid.
