Medium-voltage grid

Medium-voltage grids are usually used in more rural areas to distribute electricity up to 100 km away. However, they are also used in cities to supply individual districts. The voltage used ranges between 10 and 30 kilovolts (kV). However, there is no standard, which is why you also find lines with up to 60 kV, which are called medium-voltage lines. With the help of transformer stations, the medium-voltage grids are fed from the high-voltage grid. The medium-voltage grid is contrasted with the extra-high voltage, high-voltage and low-voltage grids.
