Construction start of solar power plant at the new Basel Trade Fair Centre construction

Still before Christmas, the leading Swiss photovoltaic specialist TRITEC will connect to the public grid a 1.2 MW solar power plant on the new Basel Trade Fair structure designed by Herzog & de Meuron.

As of early December, the Allschwiler TRITEC Project Engineering AG started the installation work for a solar power plant on exhibition hall 1 of the Basel Trade Fair. On the rented roofs with a surface of 12,000 m2, a total of 4,600 solar modules will be installed during the next three weeks. The solar power plant with an output of 1.2 MWp will thus annually generate 1,080,000 kWh clean solar energy. That is approximately equivalent to the energy demand of over 300 average households.

The plant will be operated by company SUNinvest. Buyer of the renewable energy is IWB, which will bridge over the compensation according to KEV rates at 100 % until the cost-covering feed-in tariff by the Federal government applies.
