European Solar Prize for Special Commitment 2014 Awarded to Giorgio Hefti, TRITEC AG, Switzerland
Giorgio Hefti, founder and CEO of the Swiss TRITEC AG, receives the Special European Prize 2014 for outstanding achievements as an entrepreneur and pioneering spirit of solar energy in Switzerland and worldwide. Giorgio Hefti has dedicated over 25 years of his life to solar energy and contributed to the installation of more than 400 MWp photovoltaic power worldwide.
After having received twice already the Swiss Solar Award, most recently in 2014, the company founder Giorgio Hefti will be additionally awarded the European Solar Prize in Rome on November 24th. Since 1994, EUROSOLAR has been awarding the European Solar Prize for exemplary projects and initiatives regarding the utilization of renewable energies. The award ceremony is to arouse and firmly establish the general public's interest in renewable energies.
Additional European distinctions and awards will go, inter alia, to Klńrle GmbH in Germany for the energy-optimized and, at the same time, aesthetic conversion of historic buildings; to Flumroc AG in Switzerland for its longstanding commitment to renewable energies; the e-truck from E-Force used by Coop Switzerland, and to Radio Pacis in Uganda for its dedication to solar energy in rural Uganda.
